Preparing graduating teachers for the classroom – a new Teacher Education Expert Panel

The Australian Education Research Organisation’s (AERO) CEO, Dr Jenny Donovan, has been named as one of the members of a new Teacher Education Expert Panel.
The panel has been tasked with reviewing how teaching is taught at universities – one of the recommendations from the Quality Initial Teacher Education Review.
The panel will make recommendations on how to:
- strengthen the link between performance and funding of initial teacher education
- strengthen initial teacher education programs to deliver effective classroom ready graduates
- improve the quality of practical experience in teaching
- improve postgraduate initial teacher education for mid-career entrants.

About Dr Donovan
Dr Jenny Donovan began her career as a high school teacher in Sydney’s western suburbs. She established and led the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation (CESE) and has worked in a number of operational and policy areas across education agencies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a Diploma of Education from Macquarie University, MA (Hons) from UNSW and a PhD in history from the University of Sydney.
