This practice guide is designed to help secondary school leaders understand assessments used to support students struggling with foundational literacy and numeracy skills in a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework.

It draws on research evidence, including a review of evidence-based approaches for supporting students who are struggling conducted by Monash University, as well as guidance AERO developed in partnership with the Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation (DSF).
